Felting Soaps
Just spent the evening felting soaps, ready for a folk festival on Saturday, only another 20 to go tomorrow and the labelling and then key rings and then price up the vessels!
Hey ho! It need proper cards for items which will make them a bit more professional looking, getting those next week.
(will post photos in the morning)
Getting geared up for my first proper workshop and organising colour cards. When they are ready will post on here for comments.
FELTING SOAPS, also known as soap felting or felted soap, is a process where soap is encased in wool fibers to create a unique and functional product. The wool fibers are felted around the soap, creating a natural washcloth-like covering. This process serves several purposes:
- Exfoliation: The wool fibers act as a gentle exfoliant when rubbed against the skin, helping to remove dead skin cells and promote circulation.
- Extended Lifespan: The wool covering helps to extend the lifespan of the soap by acting as a protective barrier against wear and tear.
- No Need for Washcloth: The felted soap itself can be used directly on the skin without the need for an additional washcloth or sponge.
Felting soaps is not just a craft; it’s a therapeutic art activity that engages both the mind and the senses. By wrapping wool fibers around bars of soap and gently agitating them with water and friction, you create a soft, felted covering that enhances the soap’s texture and appearance.
Beyond the creative process, felting soaps offers a calming and meditative experience, allowing you to focus on the rhythmic motion of your hands and the soothing sensation of the warm water. This tactile and sensory activity can promote relaxation, reduce stress, and provide a satisfying outlet for self-expression.
